Code of Conduct
SCCYSA is committed to providing a positive, safe, respectful, and sportsmanlike soccer environment for all players, coaches, referees, families, volunteers, and spectators.
As a youth soccer organization, SCCYSA follows the standards, policies, and expectations established by Missouri Youth Soccer Association, also known as MYSA, and the U.S. Soccer Federation, also known as USSF or U.S. Soccer. These guidelines help ensure that everyone involved in the game understands their responsibility to promote respect, safety, fairness, and good sportsmanship.
SCCYSA expects all members of our soccer community to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of youth sports and supports a positive experience for every player.

Our Commitment
SCCYSA expects all members of our soccer community to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of youth sports and supports a positive experience for every player.
This includes:
- Showing respect for players, coaches, referees, opponents, spectators, volunteers, and league officials
- Promoting good sportsmanship before, during, and after games
- Following the rules, policies, and spirit of the game
- Supporting a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
- Refraining from abusive, threatening, harassing, or inappropriate behavior
- Allowing coaches to coach, players to play, and referees to officiate
- Modeling positive behavior for young athletes
Player Expectations
Players are expected to demonstrate respect, effort, teamwork, and good sportsmanship at practices, games, tournaments, and SCCYSA-related activities.
Players should listen to their coaches, respect officials and opponents, play fairly, and represent their team and SCCYSA in a positive manner.
Coach Expectations
Coaches play an important role in shaping the youth soccer experience. SCCYSA expects coaches to serve as positive role models, teach the game responsibly, support player development, and maintain a safe and respectful team environment.
Coaches are expected to follow MYSA, U.S. Soccer, and SCCYSA requirements, including applicable background checks, SafeSport requirements, concussion awareness, and coaching standards.
Parent, Guardian & Spectator Expectations
Parents, guardians, and spectators are an important part of the SCCYSA community. We ask all sideline participants to encourage players, respect referees and coaches, and help create a positive game-day environment.
Negative comments, verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, harassment, or unsportsmanlike behavior toward players, referees, coaches, volunteers, staff, or other spectators will not be tolerated.
Referee Respect
Referees are essential to the game and must be treated with respect at all times. Many referees are young or still developing their skills, just like our players.
SCCYSA expects all players, coaches, parents, and spectators to support referee development by allowing officials to manage the game without harassment, intimidation, or abuse.
Reporting Concerns
Concerns involving misconduct, safety, inappropriate behavior, or violations of the Code of Conduct should be reported to SCCYSA leadership.
Depending on the nature of the concern, reports may also need to be submitted to MYSA, U.S. Soccer, the U.S. Center for SafeSport, law enforcement, or other appropriate authorities.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 immediately.
Shared Responsibility
A positive soccer environment depends on everyone. By following the MYSA and U.S. Soccer standards of conduct, SCCYSA families and participants help protect the integrity of the game and ensure that youth soccer remains a fun, safe, and meaningful experience for all.
